Twelve Lessons in Coffee

In the making for quite some time now, we’re happy, proud and super excited to introduce Twelve Lessons in Coffee, a new kind of subscription experience.

A new kind of coffee experience

Where a subcription plan meets coffee training and education

Bridging team and industry expertise, we’ve designed a coffee subscription supported by online video lessons for a tasty, informative and immersive experience in all things filter coffee!

Exploring topics such as water quality, roasting degrees and commodity vs speciality coffee, to name a few. Apart from the tasty coffee, your monthly subscription kit will include samples, learning materials and equipment for you to brew more delicious coffee every day.

How it works

Charged quarterly, Twelve Lessons is dispatched every second Friday of the month. Each subscription kit contains 350g of filter coffee to enjoy alongside what you’ll need for that month’s coffee exercise.

Hosted on the Thinkific learning platform, video lessons will be yours to enjoy, watch and revisit in your own time. Share your findings and experience on the Community Page, or ask your questions in the discussion section for us to get back to you.

Example Lesson 1: Strength & Brew Ratio

Strength not only affects the mouthfeel of our brews but can also affect the clarity of flavour in the cup. In this lesson, we’ll be looking at what strong actually means and how adjusting the brew ratio to match our brewer or coffee can help us get the best out of our brews.

Included in your pack is:

  • An Espro Bloom Brewer
  • Coffee samples to help explore strength & brew ratio
  • A 350g bag of filter coffee to enjoy!

Example Lesson 2: Roast Development

The roasting process significantly affects the flavour of our brews, and as a result, many of us prefer our coffee roasted and developed to a certain level or point. In this lesson, we’ll explore our own preferences further and taste coffee at various stages of roast development while learning how we can adapt our brewing to get the best results.

Included in your pack is:

  • Coffee samples of different roast levels to explore
  • A 350g bag of coffee to enjoy!

Example lesson 3: Freshness in Green Coffee

Although the freshness of roasted coffee is commonly discussed, we don’t often talk about how the freshness of green or unroasted coffee also impacts flavour in the cup. In this lesson, we’ll be looking at the seasonality of coffee, what happens with green coffee post-harvest, and we’ll explore how to identify flavour changes in coffee as it ages.

Included in your pack is:

  • Coffee samples from different harvests
  • A 350g bag of coffee to enjoy!

Oh, and did we mention. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive a bonus Welcome Pack! Covering all things water and tasting, your Welcome Pack contains:

  • A ZeroWater Jug
  • Third Wave water sachets,
  • A cupping spoon
  • Coffee samples
  • Your Twelve Lessons in Coffee booklet.

With so much to explore and a few surprises along the way, we can’t wait for you to join the Twelve Lessons Community! See you there!
