There are some things that make me smile in the morning: natural light shining through a window; the smell of freshly baked bread; a creamy cappuccino; and the mere thought of eating breakfast! Luckily for me and you, Brick House Bakery ticks all of the boxes and makes mornings a whole lot easier.
Located just off Lordship Lane in idyllic East Dulwich, the bakery and cafe is housed in an old electrical warehouse which has been beautifully restored – think white washed walls, poured concrete floors and lots of wood to keep the space light and inviting. A wall of San Francisco style sourdough breads greet you as you walk up to the counter, so make sure to pick up a loaf of their Peckham Rye on the way through.
A simple but delicious menu is broken down into Brunch, Eggs & The Rest and On Toast, a surefire way to put a smile on your face. Start with a tasty shot of Red Brick and something sweet from their pastry selection (the bostok is especially delicious), move onto a Bloody Mary with some home cured salmon and soft boiled eggs, and if you stay long enough (trust me you will want to) finish with a nice glass of La Coste Rosé and a grilled cheese sandwich!
So go on, take a seat at one of the communal tables, or if you’re like me, grab a stool by the window, let the sun kiss your face and the coffee and food please your soul.
