Taking up residence in front of the West Boating Lake, Pavilion Cafe is a welcome beacon in amongst the foliage and fountains of Victoria Park, giving you a place to relax and enjoy the sunshine but equally to hide away from the long grey days so notorious in London.
Bread and pastries are supplied by their own bakery in Hackney, which are without a shadow of a doubt some of the best in the UK. Fresh juices, mugs of filter coffee and hearty food with a Sri Lankan influence are more than enough to stop you from doing anything productive for the next couple of hours.
In the summertime, it is hard to find a spare table outdoors but don’t be afraid to share a pew with the cyclists / runners / families and indulge in a cheeky coffee and cardamom bun while you decide on what to actually eat for brunch.
Open for almost a year now, their beautiful retail space on Broadway Market stocks loaves of freshly baked sourdough, viennoiserie and foot long baguettes stuffed with mouthwatering meat and vegetarian options – think wood grilled chicken, celeriac and kohlrabi slaw or spiced carrot, pickled cauliflower, feta and dukkah.
A Black Eagle and Mythos One take care of espresso based drinks while the rotating selection of filter coffee is batch brewed ready for your enjoyment.
So much care and attention goes into everything that Pavilion turn their hand to, and with hints of a new shop opening up in the new year, we can’t wait to see what’s next for Rob and the team.
